No car embodies the image of hot rodding more than the ’32 Ford. I don’t claim to be a hot rodder, nor a particular fan of the hot rod, so I can’t honestly say why such a car is so representative of rodding culture.
If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because they’re cheap. Cheap now, and cheap in the late 1940s, when restless Southern California teenagers put their creative energies into transforming Henry Ford’s staid Model A into individual expressions of automotive angst.
I shot this near staging for the NW Classic Rally. It’s the same car parked next to the Porsche 356 Speedster from a few posts ago. Other than a close crop and desaturation of color, I applied a blue filter and adjusted contrast. I overexposed it a little too much, so the exhaust header is a bit bright, but I like the way it draws the eye and provides strong contrast for all the fantastic dark bits that make up the front end.
I’ll stick with it.
