ASS ENDS

Monte Shelton is a racer of serious cars, even well into his white hair, and for a long time he’s had a Jag and Porsche dealership downtown. Today, drivers and their machinery gathered on the closed street behind it for staging and scrutineering before the 20th Northwest Classic Rallye, which begins tomorrow morning, early. The local Alfa club puts it on, but it is largely Monte’s event.

I really couldn’t wait to get down there after work. Low light on old sports cars. Jags and Porsches and Ferraris and Healeys and Vettes and MGs and Alfas, lots of Alfas. Fifty or so, European and otherwise, gathered for inspection while their pilots enjoyed a little tipsy schmoozing.

Party at Monte’s!

I wasn’t interested in the people. Let them schmooze tipsily. I just wanted cars. And I got some. This Ford hot rod and Porsche Speedster were parked around the corner from what seemed the “official” area. The contrast in approach to what are largely the same type of car really struck me here.

I’ve done little else but crop, remove color saturation, and adjust levels and curves. Slight, slight stuff, and I’m quite pleased with the results.
